The real question is narrower: for your specific job, does kapton tape genuinely outperform mica tape, or does mica win once you factor in dielectric strength and day-to-day durability, not just a headline temperature number? What Kapton Tape Actually Is Kapton is a polyimide film - a thin, amber plastic film built to survive an unusually wide temperature swing, roughly -269°C up to 400°C, without losing its shape or its electrical properties.
